I undertook my psychotherapy and counselling training at The Minster Centre in London which is affiliated with Middlesex University. This is the UK’s leading Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling Institution. I hold an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, a Diploma in Integrative Counselling, Bachelor in Law degree and MBA. I completed my Foundation Certificate in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at WPF in London.
I am a Full Clinical Member of UKCP, the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (No. 2011183271) and a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP - No. 00886838).
I am trained in Psychodynamic and Relational Psychotherapy. This means I will be interested in how the past and the unconscious part of the psyche is active in the present. I will work with you to see how this presents in our relationship and in the other relationships you have. So much of our experience is hidden in the unconscious mind and in psychotherapy we will try to access things that are less known and not immediately obvious. This might include considering your dreams and your spontaneous thoughts and ways of being.
My training also integrated elements of humanistic psychotherapy and existential psychotherapy. In practice this means I will be engaging with you with kindness and compassion but also, I may challenge you to consider other perspectives and your own capacity to make changes. Existential psychotherapy is about looking a life’s big questions and finding meaning. It’s about trying to unpeel all the layers of the onion to get to the thing itself as a way of deepening understanding and freedom.
I have a wide range of life experience including many years working as a senior manager in the not-for-profit sector. I was involved in running a number of charities supporting people with health, social care and special educational needs. I now focus solely on my private practice but earlier in my career I worked in University, NHS and local community counselling services and during my training I spent three years working for Apple.
My work is conducted within the UKCP Code of Ethics and the BACP Ethical Framework.
